Post-processing of friction material products after hot pressing
1. Heat treatment
The friction material products after hot pressing are heat-treated under normal pressure for several hours at a temperature equal to or slightly higher than the hot pressing temperature. The purpose of heat treatment is as follows:
(1) The binder in the friction material component can be completely cured, so that the friction performance of the product, especially the thermal friction performance, is stable.
(2) Eliminate the thermal stress in the friction material product after hot pressing to prevent warping and deformation of the product.
(3) Make up for the insufficient time of man-made hot pressing to improve the production efficiency of the press.
(4) Reduce the thermal expansion of hot-pressed products.
2. Grinding
The geometric shape of the pressed product is determined by the shape of the hot pressing mold, but the size along the pressing direction, that is, the thickness direction of the product, cannot be accurately determined by the mold. Therefore, the accurate product thickness can only be achieved by mechanical processing to achieve the size requirements of the product thickness. Machining is mainly achieved by grinding with abrasive tools (grinding wheels, diamond grinding wheels, cemented carbide grinding wheels, etc.), so it is usually called grinding Processing.
